White teeth don't matter, if there's nothing to smile about????

This is the new motto on the front of the Rembrandt White Strips... Is this not the most creepy statement you have ever heard a company make? Instead of something positive like white teeth bring out a brighter smile, they are saying that if you're a depressed human being who never smiles, it doesn't matter whether ur teeth or white or yellow.

I am not aware of the advertising campaign you speak of with regard to Rembrandt White Strips. If that be the case, that is pretty lame. I also think it would be offensive to some people as well.





I personally think white teeth has too much hype anyway. Healthy teeth is more important. And who knows, in the years to come, they might find that all the people who constantly whitened their teeth may actually have done damage to their gums or tooth enamel, after the fact.





Not a lot of people can afford the expensive dental office process, if the Rembrandt type product fails to do the job. Due to my sensitive gums, my dentist told me I am unable to do the process. How many dentists would be that honest?





Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If Rembrandt company thinks their "White teeth don't matter, if there's nothing to smile about" campaign will sell more product, they ought to attach a coupon for 10% off for a therapeutic counseling session.


If that's their motto, I wouldn't endorse their product. Thanks for the "heads up"....or should I say "tooth's up"!!!

I also agree that many people are obsessed with perfect WHITE teeth, as you can see if you read the questions here. A large percentage of them start out with "what can I do to have really, really, really white teeth?"





Keep in mind that the celebrities on magazine covers might get their dental work done for free or a greatly reduced cost so the dentist can advertise using their images. Look at movies done in the 40's and 50's and you'll see quite a variety of stars' teeth.





It is possible to have a beautiful, healthy smile without paper-white teeth. In fact, some people look better with a more natural shade.
Reply:I think what they MEAN to say is, "If your teeth are ugly then you've got nothing to smile about." I agree that this phrase sounds like it should have bounced around in editting for another day or two.





When I read your subject line, I was afraid that this message was going to be from someone who should be redirected to the mental health section! Obviously, I'm okay and so are you, though. (haha)





I also agree wtih emmalue that it is possible to have a pretty smile without having refrigerator white teeth. (That's what we call it, by the way. That and "toilet bowl white.") I'd add that it is possible to have a beautiful smile with less than straight teeth, also. You smile with your whole face - not just your teeth.
