Is it normal for a dentist to push sales on you?

My dentist stopped while glue was setting and tried to interest my in jewelry a watch for my wife all of them embedded or crusted with bleached human teeth instead of pearl or diamond, it was really strange and they looked cheap not even real gold.

Is it normal for a dentist to push sales on you?
That is the weirdest thing I ever heard of; but all the dentist I've ever known are a little touched in the head, anyway. I should know; I'm related to a dentist and know a lot of dentists. They are very strange people.
Reply:Switch dentists
Reply:I had a dentist try to do a hard sell scheduling me for an appt to come back and do more optional work while I was doped up on pain killers.
Reply:Strange.

Never heard of such a dentist before. I 'd not go back.
Reply:probably was the end of the month and he needed extra money for the strip club

my friend is a chiropractitor and he is selling candies to do that
Reply:All dentists are salesmen. They try to see how much money you have, then try to push services based on how much they feel you are willing to pay. Be focused. If you are in for a cleaning, tell them that's all you are prepared to pay for at this time and that should shut them up.
Reply:While it is normal for a dentist to try to sell you other procedures (some needed, some not needed), you have a right to put up a red flag with a dentist trying to sell you jewelry (especially jewelry made with teeth??). I would find a different dentist, and notify the medical board of his practices. This is something they need to be aware of. Good luck.
Reply:I think you should report him to eBay. They have a rule against selling human body parts, including teeth.
Reply:they get nutty from sniffing that nitrous gas!!!thats why they are silly and strange?
Reply:yes, this is absolutely normal. if you have anything you need to sell, you might want to have him try to sell it to other patients. you might want to go into business with him.
Reply:We must go to the same dentist, my dentist tried selling me a bracelet made from Camobidan babie's fingers. Very odd.
Reply:That's really weird! Someone in my family is a dentist and he never does anything like that. If I were you I would switch dentists.
Reply:switch dentists. a dentist is not authorized to sell anything else than stuff that goes in your mouth.

and thats nasty jewelry with teeth. i bet he wants you to get cavities from those teeth so he has more money
Reply:you could call the dental association and report it.

I am not sure if this falls under ethics but that is not what he should be doing as a reputable dentist.

Not even mentioning the fact they are made out of teeth?

exactly who's teeth? ugh
Reply:depend in witch country it was but it's not normal

Does woodpecker's beak wear out over time?

If human teeth, or even shark even worn out over time from grinder relatively soft food, how about woodpecker's beak? The constant pecking into wood, I guess, should at least have some effect to cause it to wear out. Is that the case?

If so, to what extend?

Does woodpecker's beak wear out over time?
Unlike teeth, the beak is a living growing structure that (within limits) repairs itself. The inside is growing and the outside is tough, more like hooves and bones than teeth.

School project for a 3rd grader?

my 3rd grader has a school project due monday and we need help. he bought his paper home today with the requirements for the project. he has to make a model, poster, etc showing how atoms come together to form the earth and the link between the atoms making up earth and the atoms that form our human teeth! This makes no sense to me! I feel stupid because this is a 3rd grade project and i'm an adult! what do i do?

School project for a 3rd grader?
OK... atoms are the building blocks of all stuff. atoms are the periodic table ... think hydrogen, oxygen, lead, nickel etc...

now those get combined to make a compound... say H2O which is two Hydrogens combined with one Oxygen to make water... and CO2 which is one carbon and 2 Oxygens to make Carbon dioxide

water and CO2 are in the earth/soil but so are many many other compounds...

you could keep it simple... do you have a Lego set???

if so each tiny block is an atom... combine a few of those say 2 red and 1 white to represent water... make several and make sure they look the same... now make CO2 with 2 white and one blue...

OK how is that similar to atoms in teeth... well what compounds are in teeth??? Teeth are made of very complex compounds and these compounds are huge ( think all your lego blocks in one big massive building)... I don't think you could actually make tooth compounds with Lego's... but you can just explain that you could make it if you have a lego block to represent each element form the periodic chart you could put them in certain combinations to represent the things that make up a tooth...

this is a really big project for a third grade student...
Reply:That's a 9th grade project.

Is your son in some sort of gifted program? Google.com and wikipedia.org will help you greatly.
Reply:Maybe howstuffworks.com will help. That's tough! GL!
Reply:Atoms do not form human teeth. Have you investigated that this school is a positive role model for your child? It shouldn't make sense and you should go to the school and tell them you refuse to allow your 3rd grader to be taught such rubbish! THIRD grade? gosh.
Reply:One wonderful why to asisst your

Go to the library and do some research

Has anyone else read this?

This was on the Yahoo! home page.

More young people go the vegetarian route:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2007...

I think the most interesting part of the article was this:

About 3% of adults are vegetarians, says Reed Mangels, nutrition adviser for the Vegetarian Research Group, in Baltimore. But she says as many as 10% of adults consider themselves vegetarians, even though they may eat fish or chicken occasionally.

This basically means the majority of people claiming to be vegetarians... aren't (a 70-30 split by these figures).

... and...

Kaayla Daniel [...] says, "I do think children will grow better on a high-quality omnivorous diet." The mother of two meat-eating children says human teeth and digestive systems prove we were designed to eat both animal and vegetable foods.

Kind of seems like one big backhanded complement to me.

Your thoughts?

Has anyone else read this?
The definition of "vegetarian" means exclusion of all animal flesh (no fish, poultry, shellfish, etc.) according to Vegetarian Times, the Vegetarian Resource Group, and the American Dietetic Association. I don't understand why so many people insist on calling themselves vegetarian when they aren't. I'm happy that the article acknowledged that.
Reply:thought it was a little biased toward the anti-veggie side.. but It was an okay article I guess.

Yeah.. there needs to be a major campaign to clarify (NOT CHANGE) the definition of "vegetarian" and "meat" so that people will stop thinking that fish is NOT meat or that vegetarians can eat fish..

THere's a definition for vegetarian!! Been there over 100 years. I personally don't want to see it gradually changed so more people can join in the "Fad" without really committing to eating meat-free..
Reply:I used to be a vegetarian, so I'm totally sympathetic, but my opinion now is that if we were meant to be herbivores rather than omnivores, everyone would be vegetarian. Also, you can blame the whole people calling themselves vegs when they are not on the animal rights industry. They distribute pamphlets saying there are levels to vegetarianism. For example, a person who eats eggs, dairy and fish is "lacto ovo" vegetarian. It's weird, but just a different way of looking at it than you.
Reply:I was just reading the article too.

Shelly----it's interesting to read your words. It is exactly the same thing I was saying regarding the vegans and all of you said I was wrong. "I personally don't want to see it gradually changed so more people can join in the "Fad""------Exactly my point on vegans but I was too late. I hope you aren't.

Thankfully, the article also brings health risks into focus:

"Kaayla Daniel, a clinical nutritionist in Albuquerque and author of The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food,"

Non-fermented soy has it's benefits, but dangers as well. Maybe when folks start hearing it from clinical nutritionists, doctors and scientists instead of little ol' me, they'll start to acknowledge the facts.
Reply:I'm trying to join the vegitatrian scean. And I think we should be able to choose whats best for us and our bodies, so I'll sneak in some bacon. ;)

Fossils...???

my grandmother found a fossil today that had what appear to be human teeth. we live in south texas and i was wondering where could we take something like this to find out what it was or something??

Fossils...???
Try the Geology Dept of any university or college near you. Take pictures and you can email them to the school.
Reply:Try contacting the science department of your local university. Or why not repost this question with a link to a picture of this "fossil"?
Reply:take it to a museum or an archeologist's lobby. But there are a lot of animal teeth that look like a human's like the weasel's canines or a dog's maulers. you should make sure before claiming.
Reply:most university could help or recomend what to do
Reply:you could simply take it to a biopsy place where they find out who that was and whats there name and stuff there's you're answer
Reply:Hello,Was it in a rock formation or lying loose below the ground. Never the less take it to your local museum.

Dentist tried to sell me Jewelry and snacks during visit?

My dentist, while glue was setting and tried to interest me in jewelry and a watch for my wife, all of them embedded or crusted with bleached pearly human teeth (instead of real pearl or diamonds), it felt really strange and they looked cheap not even real gold. He also tried to sell baby toys, a mobile which obviously not safe for kids, etc. and then candy and sodas at a price much more expensive than CostCo but obviously from Costco. Just wondering what you think.

But I would call your regulating body of Dentists in your country to at least tell them because of the teeth jewelery.

I believe is a Leyend...and If it Helps it is called " EL collar de Ina Jen"
Reply:Wouldn't surprise me... Human remains have been used for artistic creations for thousands of years. The early Christians used to save the cleansed bones of their deceased to create some pretty elaborate ornaments for chapels on the basis that their remains should be saved in some way for the Rapture. Lots of bones of saints have been preserved and are on display in Rome - every church seems to have at least one finger bone in a case shaped like a hand - or something like that. A necklace wouldn't surprise me, at all. The Nazis, on a more practical level, used human skin for lampshades and wallets, too. God knows what else they did...

As brutal as was life 40,000 years ago, wouldn't it be acceptable for the, say, skull of your worst enemy, or of your best warrior or clan-leader, be honored or dishonored in some way?

What should my FANTASY FOOTBALL team be called?

We're in our 8th season, and I've changed the team name and logo every year. I've been anything from the Sperminators, The Baddies, Warm Fuzzies, Macaques, and on. Searching out a logo and editing it is as important to me as the team name itself.

I started two years ago framing the football cards of my "main" starters", team record, and logos... so I'd like this year to be a little cleaner, like the year I was the Warm Fuzzies (logo was an orange and yellow fuzz ball with two eyes... hard to describe but it was cool)

What do you suggest? Right now the best I've come up with is The Green Smile and logo is a real frog with human teeth smiling.

What should my FANTASY FOOTBALL team be called?
Henry The Eighth, I Am (Logo: Chris Henry)

Man Singing Rock (Logo: Elvis)

The Eighth Wonder of the World (Logo: Up to Your Imagination and Taste)

-Karmic Consequences

Major religions around the world such as Buddhism or Hinduism teach that all of our actions including our choice of food have karmic consequences. By involving oneself in the cycle of inflicting injury, pain and death, even indirectly by eating other creatures, one must in the future experience in equal measure the suffering caused.

Reply:If God didn't intend for us to eat animals...

...he wouldn't have made them out of MEAT.
Reply:I don't eat meat because I don't believe in the unnecessary killing of animals.
Reply:I don't know where the thing for eating plants only came from. Teeth are made for chewing whatever you're eating, but I personally am a carnivore. I don't think I could go without eating meat. I don't believe there are any real dangers. If you go by that then it's dangerous to eat anything and everything.
Reply:human teeth are designed for us to be omnivores, meat and plants. Thats why you have your sharp ones, the canines, for tearing flesh in the front, and your flat ones in the back for grinding veggies.
Reply:Because it is tamastic! It withdraws your prana.
Reply:To paraphrase Sue Donym's answer.

If God didn't intend on us eating animals, he wouldn't have made them so delicious.
Reply:As a general rule, people should definitely not eat meat. If they don't eat meat, the demand for meat is low, so meat prices are low. As a result, I get to eat more of it. I am therefore thankful to all the vegetarians and vegans out there.
Reply:People should not eat meat everyday.White meat is better than red meat. example of red meat- beef, pork, lamb etc.Instead.White meat can be consumed for example sea food, chicken, duck etc.Besides beef %26amp;pork contain lots of fat's.
Reply:I don't think meat should not be eaten, I just don't personally like they way the animals are being manufactured, abused and tortured in certain facilities.

If you want eat meat, and you know how to hunt properly and within all reasonable limitations, (for example, hunt wild boar because there are too many of them, or hunt an animal in the wild who is fully-grown and not nursing young) I say go for it. I couldn't do it, but I think that is the only way we as humans should be eating any meat.
Reply:None, none and no respectively.

Human teeth are designed for eating plants, they are also able to eat meat. That we do not have the teeth of a carnivore, which are solely used for meat, ignores that we are omnivores. Secondly, carnivores usually have teeth as a weapon as well as for eating, we have no need of huge teeth for fighting of enemies as we have our hands and can use tools.

Reasons cited why meat should not be eaten are usually ethical, environmental or health related. I will not comment on ethics, but it does not negatively affect health or the environment, in fact meat is very good for health if not taken to extremes. In my below rebuttal of all the point of Mat H many of the other points are explained.

I will give you some explanatory links though.

http://www.becomehealthynow.com/article/...

http://www.mercola.com/2002/feb/2/vegeta...

http://www.vanguardonline.f9.co.uk/00509...

@ Mat H, world hunger could not be stopped by going vegetarian. For a start, there is already more than enough food in the world, the is so much going to waste. The problem is the starving people can't afford to import food from other countries should they not grow enough. Not eating meat wouldn't change that, it'd just mean more food went to waste.

No, we couldn't give it to them either, as it's bankrupt said countries even more. For a start most make their living from food in such places. If you gave them free food no one would buy food from these farmers and many people would go bankrupt and be even poorer, storing up problems for later when food aid is withdrawn.

Neither are environmental concerns as bad as they seem. For one thing, the rainforest beef is of inferior quality due to poor grazing and isn't exported to the worlds developed countries, like the USA. Thus what you do in no way affects the rainforest. On the other hand, huge amounts of rainforest are cut down to grow soy, etc, which is exported to places like the USA.

While it takes more land to grow a pound of beef than a pound of wheat, etc, meat farming is hugely less intensive. In a field there might be, say, a dozen cows, said cows don't take up that much room, they just need the extra space as they need to move about. Crops take over an entire field. Animal farming is better for the environment in that other animals can live in the field alongside the cows, and is thus better for the local wildlife, not so for pastoral farming. Pastoral farming is terrible for wildlife, animals are killed by combine harvesters, animals cannot live in crop fields, and the pest/herb/fungicides used poison the animals. This poison goes right up the food chain and kills larger carnivores like hawks. Also, pesticides et al get into the rivers and can kill the fish, and eventually get into our water supplies. I'm not saying crop farming is bad, I'm just saying you shouldn't say how bad meat is with this in mind.

I'd also like to mention that, while many animals are fed on grain, that completely ignores grass fed animals. What's more arable fields, as a rule, are usually places where no, or only poor quality, crops could be grown, due to relief, soil and climate.

It does not cause cancer. The studies you're citing fail to take into account that meat eaters are much, much more likely to smoke/lead otherwise unhealthy lifestyles. When these things are taken into account there is almost no difference. Besides, there are many plants which are proven to cause cancer, like soy.

http://www.soyonlineservice.co.nz/

The same goes for cholesterol, when other variables are taken into account there is no discernible difference. Even when they're not the difference between a vegetarian and meat eater is only about 2/3%. Your body on average creates four to five times more cholesterol than the average person consumes, and compensates by creating more when less is consumed. Cholesterol isn't a poison, it is essential, and your body needs it. Heart disease isn't caused so much by how much you eat, but how your body handles it. A person who eats loads of dietary cholesterol and leads an unhealthy lifestyle can still have low cholesterol, and vice versa, because most peoples bodies regulate the amount of cholesterol in the blood. Most people's bodies are able to take a large amount of cholesterol without getting atherosclerosis. For this reason that eating meat gives you heart disease is very misleading, and for the most part untrue. Of course, if you do have a problem eating loads isn't a good idea, but for most people there is nothing at all to worry about.

Besides, the link between cholesterol and heart disease isn't clear cut at all. Low cholesterol people can get heart disease and vice versa. There are other factors to be taken into account.

I find your stance on oil and meat hard to believe. Cows more or less walk about under their own steam. The only place I can think of substantial power being used is slaughter and processing. In plants there is mechanical watering and pest/fung/herbicide spraying. They use combine harvesters to collect the yield. Tractors are needed to plow the land, etc.

As for water, it takes several times more water to produce a pound of rice than pound of beef. Therefore I think everyone should stop eating rice. Sound reasonable? No, I thought not.

Yea, I live in the UK, and we fall under EU regulation (this is not a good thing generally), so the stuff you're saying about hormones and antibiotics isn't stuff I've researched or need to know about as using these things/selling meat when these things were used on them is illegal. I will say that this is one thing I do think is bad about US meat farming. Still, pesticides/herbicides/fungicides are probably just as bad, and cause more harm to the environment.

You mention pesticides, but again I find this hard to believe. If it were I'd point out that vegans are oh so much more likely to buy organic produce. Either way, most pesticides get into the body through plants and water (it gets into the rivers and thus the human drinking supplies). It is true that they also get into the bodies of animals which are then consumed, but I really doubt there would be such a huge difference based on this alone, and buying organic meat would prevent most of this risk anyway.

This is more an argument against pesticides than meat anyway.

I won't comment on ethics, as everyone has different morals, but I think you can guess my stance.

As for karma, I don't believe in it. Even if I did I would regard killing for food as justifiable and it wouldn't stop me eating meat. It may interest you that there are sects of Buddhism who do eat meat as they live in places where crops can just not be grown. In my opinion meat is justified.
Reply:If you ask me, I think plants shouldn't be eaten either. Read this article on plants have feelings.

http://www.pureinsight.org/pi/index.php?...

How do you think those poor plants feel on harvest day!? What a slaughter! We as humans must stop eating animals and plants. That'll make the next trip to the grocery store really inexpensive.

Oh and I enjoyed the reading Andy.

How much does a tooth weigh?

my sister is doing a science fair project and she needs to know how much a human tooth weighs with and without the roots. please make it as exact as possible. and thanks in advance!

How much does a tooth weigh?
it depends on the tooth if it is a childs or an adults is it a front tooth or a molar? some people have larger teeth the others how can you get an acurate answer?
Reply:about 1-2 ounces
Reply:1.8 ounces
Reply:There's no way to give you an exact weight. It depends on which tooth it is. For example, molars are going to weigh more because they're larger and have four roots. Not to be rude, but you're really not helping you sister. One of the purposes of such projects is to teach kids how to do their own work, including research. Instead of asking for her, teach her how to use a search engine and find what she needs. Seriously, that would be far more helpful to her.
Reply:Well I never actually tried it. I know! get one of your not so good-kinda stupid friends and punch out one of theirs and weigh it on a scale!

GENIUS! or ask a dentist. but I recommend punching your friend!
Reply:The answers using ounces are plain WRONG, so don't pass them along to your sister. More like 1/10 of an ounce is correct, but don't take my word for it. I weigh my extracted teeth monthly and this is how I know what ballpark it is, but this is not the exact measurement. Grams would be more useful in weighing individual teeth.

Hi. I'm an Iranian who has spent his life in Iran. When I chat with people from other countries, I am shocked to see how totally wrong their ideas are about Iran. I wrote this article in an attempt to help correct those ideas.

The first thing America, and the West in general, accuses our government of is that we don't allow personal freedoms. Actually, Iranians disobey laws they don't like as much as anyone. But come on, there are only a few restrictions. It's cool over here. People here do whatever they wish to! Many strict rules in other countries don't even exist in Iran. Also, you should understand that what may seem so normal to you, may be a nightmare for us and vise versa. That's why you don't understand a few of Iran's laws because some of them are based on our culture. You look at our country from "your own point of view"! In Iran every single house has a sattelite dish. Sattelite television has a serious influence on our people, and Iranians wear very fashionable clothing. Maybe it is a kind of imitation, but we still have our own unique Iranian style (I'm talking about public places, in our privacy there's no difference). A visitor might wonder if this is a country or a fantasy pageant of beauty queens! Almost women wear half their their hair out, and make-up and fashionable clothing are everywhere.(I ignore a few fuddy-duddies though!) Iran is one of the super-consumers of cosmetics. You would be surprised to see the difference between what you imagine and what Iran really is!

In my view, everything is great, if you ignore unemployment, inflation and air pollution. They're common problems around the world today! Also, you can't compare Iran today with the Iran you remember. The Shah and the Iatollah Khomini are both some 30 years in the past! 70% of Iran's population is a new generation (Under age 30) without the biases of the past and we've transformed everything.

Ever heard Iranian girls are terrific?I've collected some photos showing Iranian girls! Look! Poeple are like this!

http://www.salijoon.ir/bazigar/hedye%20t...

http://www.30nema.com/images/gallery/30n...

http://i10.tinypic.com/4clk3us.jpg

Americanised Iranian girl? Nope, everyone's like that, but this one's inside the car! Naughty girls do anything! http://tinypic.com/2d0nfao.jpg Enough proof?

Some people think women don't have any rights in Iran. But in my view, women are overrunning the place. But that's not a bad thing. They're very respectful, and they've been the winners in so many cases: They get into the best universities because they're very smart. And they get the best jobs because they can do so many of them better than men. They've got Islamic rights, and that has in some cases made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands are supposed to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women have the right to ask a great amount of money (called Mehr) according to the law, which most husbands cannot afford, so men will be imprisoned. The only thing that women are not allowed to do in Iran is getting into public football stadiums and that's because such places are full of cheeky guys. They do anything from taking part in rallies to singing pop songs.Anything! I've put a sample here. I feel foolish for sitting here explaining ordinary things to you.

Another funny thing: Your footage about stoning the women who have committed adultery. Have you ever asked yourselves how many years ago that footage related to? Are they balck and white or colourful? But in one case (related to many years ago) the thing that had happened was incest not adultery. We think being punished for corruption is good, as it deters people from doing that and the society will be far healthier than the countries in which commiting such things is considered to be normal! For your information, most of those footages are from Afghanistan which was ruled by freaks (Taliban). What exactly makes you think women are treated differently? The way they were/are treated in Saudi Arabia? Try to think of the racism in your country too. There's no perfect country!

Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are --------- SEPERATE COUNTRIES! --------- Even within Iran, 60% of us are Persian and 30% are Turkish! Iran is a normal country like any other in the world. The point is, there's nothing mysterious about us! The Media are very good at creating really scary stuff: "IRAN BEHIND THE CLOSED DOORS!!!" "IRAN UNDERCOVER!!!" Some of that garbage would be enough to scare ME away! But in truth, Iranians are far more open-minded than you have been led to believe.

There are lots of Iranians today who are geniuses and scientists, and are all under age 25. For instance a 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions. Every year a special scientific compeition is held here and students assemble to show off hundreds of inventions. Iranian students and sportsmen win gold and silver medals in different competitions in the world all the time, in robotics, biology, maths, physics, sports, anything! Why don't the Media talk about them? Please don't summarize our nation and culture with the single word "nuclear". Although we're proud of this achievement because we believe that having nuclear energy means that a country is developed.Did you know that the countries having the highest number of scientists in the world are in this order? 1-India 2-Korea 3-Iran

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine. I searched for news of that on the internet, but there was no single sign of it.Now, I found it among the English news: "The medicine is produced from herbs using nano technology" The link to read about it is: http://www.payvand.com/news/07/feb/1032....

The Media are unjust. They never talk about facts!

Some interesting facts:

Iran is a pioneer in medicine and genetics, and Iranian surgeons have found lots of new methods for treating spinal defects, and many diseases (mainly the treatment for different types of cancer) and the best brain and heart surgeons are Iranian. The head of the Mars Mission in NASA is Iranian. One of the best designers of sports cars working in Germany is Iranian. Some of the best 3D animators are Iranian. Iran is one of the best countries in counter-engineering. Holds the second place in building dams and in loads of other things! It's one of the top countries in bio-technology and nano-technology. The 4th highest tower in the world (Milad tower) is in Tehran (visit it at this link from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Milad... ). 51 of the top 100 universities in the Mid-East are in Iran, and they're among the top universities of the world as well. The champion weight-lifter, a woman, and a song by one of the pop singers who/which won the nobel peace prize are Iranians. Lots of Iranians win nobel prizes specially in the field of medicine. Iranian girls are famous for being terrific. We have Persian rugs and Persian literature, many Persian poets, artists and scientists that are world famous. Iranian culture is now westernized and only a little of the ancient culture has survived. According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world (one Dollar =about 950 Tomans! For example you can buy windows vista for 1 Dollar here instead of 700 Dollars!!! or 3 supper pizzas for 10 Dollars!!!wow!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? Iran has nearly all the industries and technologies found in 'developed' countries. Oh, and we have four seasons! (Some people think it never snows here! We get a lot of snow and there are skating rinks! lol) The list is endless.

News: "Iranian scientists managed to make human teeth grow after you've lost them using basic cells" I'm gonna introduce Iran's international news website to you (Press TV) which was established recently. It's fully in English. In the "Sic / Tech" section you'll always see Iran's discoveries. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Some charactristics of Iranians would be:

Negative: We are proud, greedy, hard-working (for ourselves), not punctual, impatient, and lazy at doing our duty well, crazy about luxuries and thus extravagant! Highly competitive and ambitious.

Positive: intelligent, a bit idealistic, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly, hospitable.

Some people think Iran is a desert! Well, it is, if you consider California, New Mexico, Utah, Arkansas, and Alabama a desert. We share the same latitude. Iran is a modern country with breathtakingly beautiful nature and lots of historic places to visit. Please take a look at the following links to see if Iran looks like what you think or not! Some people think music is forbidden in Iran. Did you know that Iranian music was chosen as the best pop in France in 2005? All Iranian songs are current pop / DJ music. And so on and on!

It's now 2007 and most people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns!

Let's clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans think that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The Media are good at putting lying comments out there. I really don't get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us. For example does verbal defence of Palestinians cause them to have a better life? The thing is that they occasionally make some statements that the media would misuse it against Iran. For example they pick up some specific phrases of a long speech (without refering to the main points and reasons for that speech) and put so many bad comments on that. No sane person would take such nonsense at face value.

First of all, Iranians don't hate anyone. If our government complains about some injustice going on in the world, it's not bad, is it? (Although what we want from them is to shut up and not get us into trouble by talking about things that are none of our concern) We hate neither Jews nor Americans. I love Americans, otherwise why would I talk to them?! How would our guys dream of America, want to be like them as much as possible, and hate them at the same time?! SECRET: Iranians are the only people in the Mid-East that are pro-American! Being agaisnt the U.S policies is a different story!I've got to say that for Iran, Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov't. Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. (20,000 Jews and lots of Christians live here! Iran's different!) And two of Iran's parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam? Have you ever found a Muslim knocking at your door asking you to do so?

Christians and Jews are both God-believers and respectful to us. In Iran, religion is one of the least important factors. Where you come from and what your religion is are not important to us at all.

I wonder who Iran is really a threat to. Is it logical to say someone's guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that he's going to do something wrong? And they repeat the same "nuclear weapons" tosh over and over and brainwash people! Correction! It's "nuclear energy". Besides, how many "nuclear weapons" do they have themselves? Hundreds of thousands? Has Iran ever attacked any countries? No. Has it developed any nukes? No! That's what nuclear agency says. Only Iran's opponents are pulling Iran's leg and what they say is of no credit. It's just based on political conflicts. What we're doing is legal. What they ask us to do (ignoring our international rights) is illegal. Iran is a peaceful country. Why? It's the regional super-power and if she wanted, she could easily invade the countries in our neibourhood just like what Saddam did to our country, but as you see Iran has peaceful relations with all of them.

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! (I wish he could just shut up!)But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he's said this at all? You know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! He wasn't talking about destroying Israel at all. He was talking about relocating Israel, so that they could live seperate from Palestinians and they could both live in peace. They've only told you this phrase not the whole thing and it's mistranslated intentionally. Iran has always defended itself, but it's not an offensive country.

Some say he's said: "The Holocaust is a myth!" Again, this is a single phrase taken from a long speech and there are totally logical reasons for saying so. If 6,000,000 Jews were killed, that's terrible, but 300,000 Shiite Moslems killed by Saddam aren't important at all? Over 650,000 Iraqi people are killed and that's not important?! When Fox News simply says that America and Israel are capable of destroying and killing Iran's population of 69,000,000 within two weeks, it's OK and no one says they're threatening other countries to nuke them (I saw this with my own eyes on the Fox News website) Millions of people killed in Afghanistan, Hiroshima %26amp; Nagasaki and the Vietnam war are not considered human beings at all! Now I think you'd get the point why he's IRONICALLY said it's a myth. Moreover, don't you believe in freedom of speech/mind? I'd judge people by their ACTIONS rather than by what they say / their religion / race / culture and the colour of their skin!

Obviously, some countries are using Iran as a scapegoat to put the blame (for their own faults) on. And what country is better than Iran to be a scapegoat? The whole world believes that Iran isn't a peaceful country.

This part is just for Americans who would still argue over unimportant things: Those of you who say why Iran says "Death to America":

1. 'America' to us means the U.S govt, not the people. How do you expect Iranians to mean "American people" when our media admires Americans for marching and holding up "no war" placards?!

2. The new generation don't say such things and if some of them occasionally march in the streets that's because some of the stupid guys enjoy making noise and they mainly go out there to meet their girlfriends/boyfriends! Strange. Isn't it?

3. Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt's terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn't deny that attacking countries is a mistake. right?)

4. The U.S gov't helped Saddam attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians.

5. America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason.

6. America places sanctions on Iran, promotes a false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away, and harms our economy, development and credit. To what purpose?

When you call Ahmadinejad a nutcase for what he's said, what do you call Bush for his actions? I mean it's a good idea to consider what Bush is doing to the world with his wrong decisions and lies. Bush is powerful and influencial, but Ahmadinejad is nothing. He's even failed to control the inflation.

To those who are upset with American hostages taken for 444 days:

1. Firstly, It's related to so many years ago and it's almost a part of history, and don't forget that when there's a revolution, there'd be chaos and people may do things that they should not, moreover they're all alive and healthy. Aren't they?

2.The U.S has arrested Iranian diplomats in Iraq and had tortured the one who was freed. Poor British sailors were detained by the English gov't just for saying that they were treated well in Iran and that Iranians were logical people (They said these when they were on England's soil!) They were PREVENTED from releasing their memoirs by England! Now you decide who has the right to be upset with whom. How do you believe in their lies about politics when they hide both the most and the least important things from you considering the fact that politics is the world of lies in its nature?!!! Considering all this, you'd probably be able to GUESS what percentage of what they tell you about the Mid-East, Islam, Moslems and other things is true!!! lol Some answerers still confuse Iraq and Iran after reading all this! You are in Iraq not in Iran! They're separate countries!

Isn't it better for both countries to forget past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? Our two gov'ts are like 10 year old children playing a stupid, harsh, rhetorical game. (We hate them both!) They don't care about hurting people's feelings. They just try to make our two peoples enemies to achieve their own goals. We, as the people of these countries, MUST NOT allow these conflics into our hearts. You know something? All govt's are hateful. I just said the above things because it sounds unfair when some Americans talk about the taking of the 444 hostages while I keep silence. Now, what do you think? I can't wait to see both nations in peace. It'd be marvelous! They've started to have diplomatic talks! That's great!

A lovely American told me: "Having had the wonderful opportunity to visit your country enabled me to see for myself how wonderful the Iranian people are and to learn about your history, your culture, your cuisine, music, films, dance, sacred sites, your medical accomplishments...all your beauty. I am so sorry my country's government seems to delight in trying to bully Iran. Worst of all are the lies told. I know enough about your country to be able to discern when the propaganda machine here is operating. I just wish more Americans traveled and could see for themselves what I have seen. By the way, I traveled to Iran under the auspices of The Friendship Force, an organization started by Pres. Carter to promote peace through one-on-one friendship, a mission I take seriously. Thank you for your wonderful essay on Iran."

BTW, make sure you visit the links I've put up for you. They're all from trusted websites. There are some really nice stuff there! Absoulutely beautiful pictures (look at cities and nature) and "Americanised" music! lol

I like to verify claims when I can. It helps me have confidence in the other information that the speaker or writer provides. When the speaker or writer makes a claim that I find to be inccurate, it casts doubt on everything else. In this case, I can find only a single Iranian who has been awarded a Nobel prize, Shirin Ebadi. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_laure... ) Could you provide specifics on the "lots of Iranians win nobel prizes specially in the field of medicine"? Thank you.
Reply:Sometimes the problems are created by people behind the scenes that we don't hear about. Most sensible people just want a calm and happy lifestyle
Reply:Unfortunately I liked Iranians more before I read this. I had a high regard for the young Iranians and the way the country was going. While domestically you are doing very well, your attitude basically saying "Yes we said that but so did America" sounds like a cop out. Both of our countries are flawed and need big changes, and I think ours will change for the better long before yours does. You say that taking our people hostage is history so lets forget that, but how about Iran supplying ammunition to fighters against us in Iraq?

If you read your history you will find that while we shotdown a plane, it was a horrible mistake which we admitted to.

Did you see what the President of Iran said today June 03. That belies much of what you say or believe.

They're very respectful, and they've been the winners in so many cases: They get into the best universities because they're very smart. And they get the best jobs because they can do so many of them better than men. (That's why men can hardly find any good jobs because most jobs are already occupied by women!) They've got Islamic rights, and that has in some cases made it difficult for men to marry them, because husbands are supposed to buy them expensive things and treat them very well, otherwise women have the right to ask a great amount of money (called Mehr) according to the law, which most husbands cannot afford, so they (men) will be imprisoned.

But in one case (related to many years ago) something terrible had happened which was just beyond the borders of adultery. We think being punished for corruption is good, as it deters people from doing that and the society will be far healthier than the countries in which commiting such things is considered to be normal! Iranians expect their gov't not to be soft on criminals. And for your information, most of those footages are from Afghanistan which was ruled by freaks (Taliban). When you think of such things, try to think of the racism in your country too. There's no perfect country!

I find it difficult to make you understand that Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are --------- SEPERATE COUNTRIES! --------- Even within Iran, 60% of us are Persian and 30% are Turkish! I find it even more difficult to make you understand that Iran is a normal country like any other in the world.

You don't hear about their discoveries and inventions on TV. For instance a 17 year old boy has invented 72 amazing inventions and there are many KIDS like that.

A few months ago Iran uncovered the most effective anti-H.I.V medicine and it was signing treaties with other countries to export it. I searched for news of that on the internet, but there was no single sign of it. What did I find instead? "President Bush CLAIMS that bomb parts are imported from Iran into Iraq!" (The same old story!) The Media are unjust. They put CLAIMS on the headlines, but they never talk about facts!

We have Persian rugs and Persian literature, many Persian poets and scientists that are very famous. Iranian culture is now westernized and only a little of the ancient culture has survived. According to statistics Tehran is the cheapest capital city in the world (for foriegners of course, not for us! Our rate is different: one Dollar =about 950 Tomans!) There are many other things. How many pages would you need to describe a country? Iran is an independant country unlike its neighbours. It has nearly all the industries and technologies found in 'developed' countries. The list is endless.

News: "Iranian scientists managed to make human teeth grow after you've lost them using basic cells" I'm gonna introduce Iran's international news website to you (Press TV) which was established recently. It's fully in English. You'll find what they're hiding from you! In the "Sic / Tech" section you'll always see Iran's discoveries. The address is: http://www.presstv.ir/news.aspx... Press TV news: Iranian scientists have registered more than 4800 inventions during the last Iranian calendar year of 1385 (April 21 2006-April 20, 2007). 4800 inventions in just one year!

Some charactristics of Iranians would be: intelligent, ambitious, a bit idealistic, well-dressed, formal, well-educated, warm and friendly, hospitable, and not so religious. We are also proud, greedy, hard-working (for ourselves), not punctual, impatient, and lazy at doing our duty well.

This is a photo of Tehran (Awesome, Isn't it?): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

Some people think music is forbidden in Iran. Did you know that Iranian music was chosen as the best pop in France in 2005? It could even defeat Euro-pop! All Iranian songs are current pop / DJ music. I send them to my American and Canadian chat friends and they all say they're some of the best songs they've ever heard. What makes Iranian music killer, is a lot of Trance drums, uprising melody and incredible lyrics!

Here's a sample of the latest hits from two official Iranian music websites. (So catchy, Right?)You can just right click on the links below and choose "Save Target As" to download them. The translation of the songs is here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

And so on and on!

It's now 2007 and most people still think we are uneducated people living in deserts, riding camels and carrying around guns! See how the media are fooling people?

Let's clarify some political issues as well: Some of the Americans I chatted with said in the U.S it's said that president Ahmadinejad hates the U.S and Israel and wants to nuke them!! The Media are good at putting lying comments out there. It's easy to show a video or an image of our president or leader on the TV screen or on the internet and say he says this, he says that.....I really don't get the point why our politicians defame themselves by talking about things that have got nothing to do with us.

I've got to say that for Iran, Israel is not equal with Jews! Israel is a gov't. Jews are faithful people! A few of them live here in our neighbourhood and they live just like the rest of Iranians. No difference. And two of Iran's parliment members are Jews. Who says we want to force others to convert to Islam? Have you ever found a Muslim knocking at your door asking you to do so? It's so funny the way you imagine things and make yourselves believe in your own immaginations!

Christians and Jews are both God-believers and respectful to us. I wonder why the media like putting words in our mouth and raising hatred. In Iran, religion is one of the least important factors. Where you come from and what your religion is are not important to us at all. On the contrary, meeting different people would be very interesting for us!

I wonder who Iran is really a threat to. Is it logical to say someone's guilty because we THINK / PREDICT that he's going to do something wrong? And they repeat the same "nuclear weapons" tosh over and over and brainwash people! News headlines: "We won't allow Iran to gain nuclear weapons"!!! It can set an example to some countries that just follow their interests (oil!). Interesting! the countries accusing Iran of different things have been, and are still accused of the same things!!! How logical!

Some people say he said: Israel should be wiped off the map! But have they told you the rest of his speech and that why he's said this at all? You know that it's a passive sentence. He's never said that IRAN wants to wipe Israel off the map! He wasn't talking about destroying Israel.

I know Americans don't like this either, but what can they do? They're not responsible for controlling what the Media says.

Strange. Isn't it?

3. Such mottos are not just said in Iran and as you know whatever you hear is a response to the U.S govt's terrible actions which has made life for many people hell (You wouldn't deny that attacking countries is a mistake. right?)

5. The U.S gov't helped Saddam attack Iran and I hope you know which country gave Iraq biological weapons which killed lots of Iranians.

6. America hit an Iranian airplane over the Persian Gulf and killed 200 passengers for no reason.

7. America places sanctions on Iran, promotes a false image of Iran and Iranians, scares tourists away, and harms our economy, development and credit. To what purpose?

When you call Ahmadinejad a nutcase for what he's said, what do you call Bush for his actions? I mean it's a good idea to consider what Bush is doing to the world with his wrong decisoins and lies. Bush is powerful and influencial, but Ahmadinejad is nothing.

Considering all this, you'd probably be able to GUESS what percentage of what they tell you about the Mid-East, Islam, Moslems and other things is true!!! lol

Isn't it better for both countries to forget past conflicts and to have peaceful relations? Our two gov'ts are like 10 year old children playing a stupid, harsh, rhetorical game. They don't care about hurting people's feelings. I hope you agree on this one! Now, what do you think? I can't wait to see both nations in peace. It'd be marvelous! They've started to have diplomatic talks! (Naughty children!) That's great!

Thanks for your time

What do you think of our perspective?
That was very well said but in the USA, people don't believe that much of what they read is propaganda. They have been told that countries like Iran are the only ones with propaganda from the government. Americans don't understand much about any other countries at all. I don't know why it is this way and am very sorry the US is acting like this. Like Iran, our government does what it wants and we only follow. People here are scared of everyone these days and mostly don't believe there are other good countries.

Thank you for trying to help people understand.
Reply:I wish I knew how to make people see that people in many countries are really much the same with some differences that seem strange to others. I am a US citizen living out of the US right now. I'm not sure, maybe Italian. I didn't understand either and know a tiny bit of Spanish. Report It

Reply:All i can think of while reading is that your leader would like to see me died. I dont have to read the rest.
Reply:I like it how you feel everything Iran has done and said in the past is justified, but yet all of Americas actions towards Iran are misguided. WTF?
Reply:How many times do they permit you to post the same lengthy essay?

Is there a question hiding in there?

Perhaps you can summarize it by cutting away 90 percent, and then we can read it.

The current PLO and Arab claim (and mainstream media regurgitation of it) is indeed a very distorted version of `recorded history' and can only qualify as pure Orwellian propaganda. In fact, putting aside all the myths and propaganda, the only area that would qualify historically as truly Arab land is the Arabian desert peninsula.

Unfortunately, it seems that Goebbels was correct in stating that if a lie were repeated often enough, it would come to be "perceived" as truth.

Reply:LA CORTE COSTITUZIONALE E IL GOVERNO
