Human rights ! Ha?

I am sick to the back teeth that when somebody breaks the law , they bleat on about human rights. What about the poor old grannies getting beaten to a pulp so low life scum can get their fivers worth of crack, dont these victims have human rights to make sure that their attacker is put away for a long time , not sent to sweden on a "awareness of me fact finding trip". Comon judges of this great country of ours get in the real world and tell cherie blair and her cronies to wise up!

Mate if it wasn't for the legal aid system in England , i don't think the human rights act would exist here!
Reply:The system is breaking down but there is no forseeable replacement - Britain is becoming America in this respect and soon I will be able to go out, buy a gun, shoot a man and sue him for damage to my bullet.


And they are considering bringing back the death penalty! Man the system is totally f*cked up.
Reply:I totally agree, I found out the other day that if a child takes a car and drives it with out consent (joyriding), they will get given free driving lessons!!!! It's disgusting!





My sons school is one of the few left in England that punishes bad behaviour but awards good behaviour.
Reply:I agree with you, and i think they need to bring back the death penalty, as we have all seen in the last month, fifteen stabbings mostly by children who jsut dont care if they take someones life anymore. The justice system needs immence improvement, they need to stop making excuses, punish the offenders and teach the parents a lesson too.
Reply:exactly bring back hanging, cherie blair and her cronies live in there own little comfortable world and proberbly have done all there life. get them living in the bad areas and after a week they would be clammering to fight for the decent law abiding citizens.
Reply:Judges have to work within the law, wether they like it or not. The Human Rights Act is a big part of that law and I beleive one of the fastest growing areas of income for most law practices. Cherie Blair is a human rights lawyer and it was her husbands party that put this abyssmal act on the statute books and made her a lot of money, indeed she is one of the top earning human rights lawyers in the country...... coincidence? From a man that sells peerages, well I'll let you draw your own conclusions just as I have.


Just read logicallawyers response and want to add, as far as I am aware the human rights act could not be scrapped as you imply as it is the enactment of the European Conventiion on Human Rights within English Law and any attempts to do so would almost certainly be overruled by the European Court Of Justice. If you mean it could be replaced then it would have to be along the same lines as existing legislation anyway to comply with the nature of the convention and would make it a mere paper exercise for the public. Also just because the legal aid system for Criminal matters is now called the Community Legal Service, it does not mean that the essentials of what they do have significantly changed, most changes reflect around the way funding is claimed and the lawyers who can claim it (i.e. the process). Also if this service is so tightly means tested why was a certain footballer, on tens of thousands of pounds a week, granted legal aid to provide an interpreter not so long ago? As I recall it was because everybody has the basic right to be informed of the proceedings in a language they understand, and where does this right derive from, do I really need to say? - You know as well as I do deep down that the only real winners from this act are the likes of cherie and other human rights lawyers!!!
Reply:Don't get taken into the hype concerning human rights i have written a thesis so i studied a few aspects concerning the human rights act 1998.





Its not as tight as you may think, and the judges are allowed to derogate from it, when the interests of state conflict with the individual. The media blows things way wrong, so everyone goes barking up the wrong tree.





They are going to widen the derogation, or are planning to, they could even scrap the HRA for another draft. They have the power in this evolving time in the UK.





Everything is going against silly and frivilous actions, plus legal aid (not called that anymore) is means tested which means even some poor people can't get it.
