Is it a coincidence that people on benefits have bad teeth???

its just something I have noticed.. could it be that the parents along with not bothering to install any work ethic into their children they also didn't bother to make sure their children brushed their teeth.


When I say benefits people I mean the perfectly healthy human beings who can't be bothered to get a job, not those who cannot work due to illness/disability.

Is it a coincidence that people on benefits have bad teeth???
Perhaps you have a point and I'm glad you added the last bit but have to say that my teeth aren't great but it's nothing to do with dental hygiene but hereditary problems. My children (all grown up now) have great teeth even though I am disabled and surviving on benefits. Getting an NHS dentist is the first hurdle although things are deffinitely improving here but I'm not sure everyone knows that yet. Then there's the problem someone already mentioned, they do the very minimum of work. I can't wait to find a job, I do keep trying, and get some good dental work done!!

Reply:Hmm possibly, but the cost of seeing a dentist these days doesn't help - and its hard to get on a NHS dentists list now - they have all moved into the private sector.

im on benefits and my teeth are pearly white...well next to the black ones they are.
Reply:these people have no self respect. they dont want to get a job, cant be bothered to, so why would they be bothered to clean their teeth, or teach their children the importance of hygine.
Reply:No it's not a coincidence. Poor people can't afford dentists. Hell, I'm considered to be in the comfortable middle class and I can't afford a dentist--not at the outrageous prices they charge and my insurance paying very, very little of those costs. So how do you figure poor people are supposed to be able to afford dental care? I subscribe to a dental plan that costs me $12.95 a month and even it isn't sufficient to my needs.
Reply:I think this has to do with drug use for long periods of time, that caused them not only to have bad teeth, but to con the government so they can have extra money to buy drugs. Most of them probably do have a job, but if they get caught working, they will lose their benefits.
Reply:You may, sadly, have a point but I think lack of NHS dentists and the very limited treatment they are allowed to offer is a major factor. Would you believe they are not allowed to offer preventative treatment just to fix problems!
Reply:lol funny question. I think people on benefits probably cant afford to pay for dental hygiene but i agree they can clean them. However i think it might just be a little stereotypical to say they all have bad teeth goes hand in hand with saying they all wear string vests, drink beer all day and wear tracksuits. The image of Onslow out of keepin up appearances springs to mind! ;)
Reply:im perfectly healthy, a single parent on benefits and my teeth are great. why class people with bad teeth as people on benefits its just nasty dirty people who have bad teeth not those on benefits.

Reply:They don't have jobs because they are lazy! It takes work to brush your teeth. It's too hard for them! brush, brush, brush, brush, aww forget it!
Reply:Bad teeth come from having a poor diet. Eat a lot of cheap food loaded with sugar and you're on the way to a mouthful of trouble.
