I had to go to the dentist like 5 times in the last couple months - because I needed 5 fillings, and also cleaning/scaling, etc.
All this got me thinking: why do humans get tooth/gum disease? (even though we brush twice a day - at least, I always have). -- I also don%26#039;t eat candy and I don%26#039;t drink any types of soda (i.e. pepsi, coke, etc.)
Animals (like tigers, cows, cats, dogs, etc. ) never brush their teeth, and they don%26#039;t floss. Why don%26#039;t animals have horrible gum and teeth diseases then?
Animals don%26#039;t brush or floss their teeth. Why don%26#039;t they get dental problems?
Most of them don%26#039;t live long enough to get serious dental problems. Your typical house pet (cat/dog) has a life expectancy of less than 15 years. Smaller pets even less. Some animals have teeth that grow continuously (hamsters, for example). An animal in the wild will die quickly if they develop a bad dental problem. You won%26#039;t see a toothless lion walking around gumming a gazelle, so you might assume that lions don%26#039;t get bad teeth when in reality the ones with bad teeth are already dead.
Reply:They do get teeth and gum diseases! Do your research.
Reply:they DO
Reply:Dogs do get gum disease. Ask any vet.
Reply:yeah they do your actually supposed 2 brush your dog teeth.
Reply:because most of their diet has no sugar, Roman skulls they found in Pompeii had no cavities either, but they had plenty of worn teeth due to all the ground wheat products they ate which always contained small amounts of stone from the grindstone
Reply:Animals DO get dental problems. We just don%26#039;t worry about fixing them because they are animals.
And some devoted pet owners DO brush their pets%26#039; teeth.
Reply:they do but even if they didnt they dont eat all the sugar humans eat.
Reply:They do, they get pretty much everything we can.
Reply:animals do get dental problems just not as bad as humans
Reply:Umm, they do! One of my dogs has had problems with her teeth, even though I brush them.
Reply:They do get decay and it can kill them.
Reply:they have special teeth like super teeth you could say
Reply:For a few reasons: A. Are teeth are not meant to last as long as we live by decades so we had to get dental care to help with that. Also we eat sugars that are not meant for us naturally (but we%26#039;ve adapted to be able to stomach almost anything) so are teeth don%26#039;t have a natural defense against those sugars which are in foods you don%26#039;t even think about or wouldn%26#039;t think they are in. Since animals don%26#039;t eat these and have a natural lifespan so it isn%26#039;t as much of a worry for them and they do occcasionally get diseases like us.
Reply:They do, but it%26#039;s okay for animals to get cavitys, or gum disease because animals aren%26#039;t made to know how to brush or floss their teeth.
However, it%26#039;s not okay for humans not to brush their teeth, because humans where made to know how to brush or floss their teeth.
Reply:They do. But Carnivores like dogs have sharp pointed teeth. They chew their food or woof it down on the outside of their gums. They need occasionally to have their teeth cleaned. They don%26#039;t floss because they have large gaps between the teeth so food does not get stuck there.
Animals that have teeth like ours are always plant eaters. Like Cows. We have plant eating teeth and we are meat eating animals. That%26#039;s why. Be glad you get to see a dentist and take better care of your teeth. Bad dental care can result in heart disease.
Reply:They get the same kinds of problems that humans do.
However, they do not eat candy, cake, or pie, or drink cola drinks, caffeine, or alcohol, so their problems are fewer.
Reply:Animals do have issues with their teeth. My cat has lost both of his canine teeth. Both my cat and dog are due for cleanings. I had to pay big bucks for my mother%26#039;s dog to have a tooth removed because it was bad.
There are things you can do to help prevent tooth issues with animals: treats that help remove plaque and tartar from their teeth, don%26#039;t feed them soft foods consistantly, have their teeth cleaned at the vets, they even have tooth brushes and toothpaste for pets. They actually even make braces for dogs now.
Reply:That is the BIGGEST DIFFERENCE between Humans and animals.
First of all, animals does not have their spirit or soul,
which is like the thinking mind(s), they(the animals) does not think clearly, and they just do whatever they feel like, just look at your pet, they poo in front of anyone, and they don%26#039;t eat with manners, etc, etc. . .However we as Humans have far more %26quot;Superior%26quot; minds and hearts than the animals, because we think, we colonise, we make things happen,
for example, SEX, animals have sex to reproduce, well just to %26quot;REPRODUCE%26quot;, we as Humans have sex to reproduce, and we can prevent it%26#039;s reproduction by using contraceptive and animals cannot do that, and Humans enjoy sex as differently to the animals. . .
Animals DO feel the pain, of course they do, they are Life on earth, but the reason they cannot go to the dentist like Us as Humans do is that, they do not have their own minds, and so they cannot make a hospital or a dental care, they just suffer the pain of either gum disease or toothache, and they cannot even tell anyone or go to a dental care, because they cannot speak, and they cannot communicate well enough for each other to make them build a dental care. . .
So we Humans must %26quot;Thank%26quot; our Creator for Creating us more Superior and much more %26quot;Thoughtful%26quot; than other animals, we as Humans are much more dedicated and Thoughtful than the animals, . . .
(I can add to this answer that the %26#039;evolution theory%26#039; says we as Humans are animals which means that we are just as same as beasts and other animals, and that cannot make sense, because if we are animals, we should be just like the animals, we should roam the streets of jungles and poo anywhere else, it%26#039;s like that . . .)
You can either choose that we are %26quot;created in the Image of our Highly being Creator,%26quot; or that we are evolved from the animals who have the uncontrollable minds, and poop anywhere else on the streets of jungles. . .
Thank you and sorry for bringing other subjects,
Reply:dogs and cat do have gum problems!!!

My brother is in vet school and he needs to take additional courses to learn about dentistry in animals.
root canal on a tiger: see link below.
Reply:Animals do get problems with their mouths. My dogs get their teeth cleaned at the vet once a year to prevent gum disease and tooth loss.
